The Jack – X casting rod is the latest addition to the Millerods production line up! Originally one of Ian’s custom designs for Jack and barra fishing, this rod fills an important niche for hunting powerful fish by casting smaller lures in our rivers and estuaries.
There are many situations that require a slightly smaller lure to tempt fish holding tight to structure and that is the exact design brief of the Jack – X. Accuracy and easy casting are the main attributes of the Jack – X and as such the original custom rods became favourites of professional fishing guides who guided Ian for barra fishing and were impressed with the casting performance.
The Jack – X is also easy to use for long sessions. “Absolutely effortless!” is how one guide described it. And there is still plenty of fish fighting power, as is needed to land many of the target species hunted with this rod.
It’s not just a rod for the tropical north or ‘Jack waters, the Jack – X excels in any environment that requires an accurate cast with a lighter lure to extract powerful fish. Tighter waters in the Murray-Darling Basin for yellowbelly or cod are also ideal applications for this rod.
And it’s not just a rod for hard bodied lures; topwater, spinnerbait, small swimbaits are all easy casting fodder for the Jack-X.
Made with the new ‘Armour 40-5’ blank construction, this is the ultimate in blank reinforcement – the optimal solution to create a more robust blank while maintaining the Millerods benchmarks of lightweight sensitivity and balance!
The multi-guide train comprises 9+1 Fuji Fazlite guides for smooth line flow whether casting, retrieving or fighting fish. And of course the exclusive Millerods anti-tangle hook keeper is positioned perfectly; not in the way but within handy reach to securely stow your lure in between casts.
The Jack – X incorporates Ian’s ‘Control Freak’ style handle for the ultimate in feed-back, comprising Fuji SKTS reel seat over a blue carbon barrel, and custom-shaped x-firm EVA in the Millerods signature style blue Camoufish pattern, all finished with the ‘M’ logo anti-skid butt cap. This handle is SHORT, so you can manoeuvre the rod for underhand, backhand, or other creative casts to drop your lure right on target!
*Millerods recommends the use of the FG knot for connecting braided fishing lines to monofilament leaders. All Ian’s lure casting guide trains are selected with this connecting knot in mind.
